Your Own Size

Uh Oh, you've been shrunk down to the size of a bug! Time to fight your way to the top of his treehouse in the hopes of a cure, or maybe just get some sweet revenge. Still, easier said than done; that looks like a long way up from down here. Gulp

My first video game score! I was the composer for the computer-browser game Your Own Size (available for free download to Mac, PC and Linux). This was part of GameJam.TV's annual game jam — my first game jam. I'll be honest, I somehow had no idea that game jams were a thing until PAX East this year, and I'm grateful that for my first one I met an amazing, super collaborative, and very communicative team. When the theme was released as Tiny Worlds we decided to go with a platformer where the protagonist was shrunk down to the size of a mosquito, and needed to climb a tree to get back to normal.

For this game's score, I was inspired by classic platformers like Metroid, Castlevania, and Super Mario Sunshine (okay, not technically a platformer but that's besides the point). My biggest inspiration, though, was Phineas and Ferb. There also happens to be 8 P&F Easter Eggs in this game. Can you find them all?

I was also inspired by the 2018 meme/viral tweet "I once heard Ska described as "what plays in a 13-year-old kid's head when he gets extra mozzarella sticks" and nothing in this world is more accurate."
